How we protect and handle your data

Last updated: June 2025

Your resume is personal. Cviel was built out of my own frustration—writing resumes has always been a pain for me, whether starting from scratch or uploading an old PDF that never worked. I created Cviel to make resume building simple, intuitive, and accessible to everyone.

Before you create your perfect resume with Cviel, please read how we process and protect your personal data in line with applicable data protection laws, including (where applicable) the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Who processes your personal data?

Your personal data is processed by the Controller:

Cviel (Solution Flow LLC)

Email: info@cviel.com

(hereinafter referred to as the "Controller").

What personal data do we process?

We process the data you provide to build and manage your resumes, such as:

  • Name, email address
  • Work history, education, skills, and any other resume-related information you choose to add
  • Technical data (like your IP address and usage logs) to ensure security and improve your experience

Why do we process your data?

We process your data to:

  • Create and manage your Cviel account
  • Provide you with resume-building tools and features
  • Improve Cviel and develop new features
  • Communicate with you about updates, new features, or relevant offers (only if you consent or where legally allowed)
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Secure Cviel against unauthorized access or misuse

The legal basis for processing your data is:

  • Performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) – when you create an account and use Cviel
  • Compliance with legal obligations (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR)
  • Our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) in improving Cviel and protecting its security
  • Your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) – for optional features like newsletters or sharing data with partner employers, if offered in the future

Use of Third-Party AI Services

Cviel uses third-party large language models (LLMs) from reputable AI service providers to generate helpful resume suggestions and edits. When you use AI-powered features, parts of your data (like resume text or sections you're working on) may be securely shared with these providers solely to generate suggestions. These providers process your data only to deliver the requested AI features and do not store or reuse it for other purposes.

How long do we keep your data?

We store your data as long as you have a Cviel account. If you close your account, your data will be permanently deleted within 30 days. If you do not log in for over 5 years, we may delete your account and data after notifying you.

Legal records (like accounting or tax-related data, if applicable) are kept as required by law.

Do we share your data?

Your data is not sold or shared with third parties, except:

  • With trusted third-party processors like hosting or cloud providers who support Cviel's infrastructure and are under strict confidentiality and security obligations
  • With third-party AI service providers as described above
  • When legally required, such as to comply with a valid government request

If Cviel's business model changes (for example, adding paid plans or job-matching services), we will update this Privacy Policy to reflect any new data uses or sharing.

International data transfers

If we transfer your data outside your home country (for example, to our AI partners or hosting providers), we ensure appropriate safeguards like standard contractual clauses to protect your data.

Your rights

Depending on your location and applicable law (such as the GDPR), you may have the right to:

  • Access your data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Object to or restrict certain data uses
  • Withdraw your consent at any time (this won't affect processing that happened before the withdrawal)
  • Port your data to another service
  • Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority

To exercise your rights, please contact us at info@cviel.com.

Children's privacy

Cviel is not intended for children under 16. If you are under 16, please get parental consent before using Cviel.

How do we protect your data?

We apply industry-standard security practices, including encryption in transit and secure servers, to protect your personal data. However, no online service can be 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute protection.
